- Fire Fighting: Then and Now
New London has a long and proud history of protecting its residents from fire damage. This effort has been anchored by outstanding professionals, a group of dedicated volunteers along with the very best in fire-fighting equipment. This equipment, both past and present, will be on display on the grounds of the Historical Society. The star of the show will be “Hercules” backed up by the Eagle Hose Fire Company and some of the latest equipment being used by the New London Fire Department.
The Eagle Hose Fire Company, housed on the Society’s grounds include a plethora of firefighting equipment from the 1800s.
Also joining us for the day will be a group of antique fire equipment owned by area collectors and the Ice House Museum.

- The Parish Players Present "Hotel Cassiopeia" by Charles Mee at the Eclipse Grange Theater in Thetford, VT.Directed by Rebecca Young-Ward, show times are July 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 8pm and July 25 and August 1 at 2pm. "Hotel Cassiopeia" is a play taken from the biographies and dream diaries of three dimensional sculptor and artist, Joseph Cornell. The play is not so much about Cornell’s life, but about how life appears through Cornell’s eyes as he interacts with his mother, his convalescent brother, various women, and the idols of his life and art- including Lauren Bacall, Roberto Matta, Marcel Duchamp, and Arshile Gorky.
