- Art at The Fells: Celebrating New Hampshire Family Farms
June 23 through October 11 during Main House hours.
Opening Benefit Reception--June 26, 5:30-8:30pm
$50 pp, tickets available May 15
When The Fells was established in 1891, post-Civil War geographic and market realities conspired against New Hampshire's rural agricultural economy and culture. Farms were being abandoned and agricultural product output plummeted.
In contrast, today's New Hampshire boasts many family farms, small new niche operations as well as those of more traditional description. Experience today's family farms through the eyes of talented New Hampshire artists Ron Brown, Grace Cooper, Heather Hansen, Lisa Jelleme, Vicki Koron and Aline Ordman in wonderful all new depictions of rural landscapes, still lifes and barnyard animals, accompanied by creative assemblage display.
This exhibit salutes the resilient farmers whose properties not only provide fresh, locally grown agricultural products but that also provide breathtaking views that no plein air painter can resist--peaceful fields and pastures dotted with handsome barns, blooming plants and grazing livestock, surrounded by New Hampshire's natural beauty. The Fells Main House Gallery.
